On the occasion of the 25 of November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a speech-presentation was held in the hall of the Second Chance School of Volos, organised by the teachers Maria Skoura, sociologist and Maria Papantoniadou, member of the KA.PA. Council (Abuse-Neglect in the Prefecture of Magnesia). Guest speakers were Mrs. Vrondi Aphrodite, psychologist at the Center for Mental Health and Mr. Tsirogianni Thomas, lawyer, member of KA.PA.
Violence against women is not an individual but an international social problem and a violation of human rights and it affects not only women but also interpersonal relations and social cohesion. The speakers highlighted the magnitude of the problem and the need for effective measures. A discussion ensued between learners and lecturers as well as a distribution of leaflets.
